in-house, B2B & everything in between.
There’s a lot of interesting stuff to write for out there. Like Australian startups, health-tech, government groups and brand-spanking new video platforms. Here’s some more work I’m stoked to be part of.
the big-time small bUSINESS tech biz
The people at Square are an anomaly. They’re almost too kind, too talented and too cool. I’ve helped with writing for various projects, concepted others from the get-go, and generally forced my creative opinions on different internal groups like Owned and Organic, Retail and Restaurants. It’s been a blast chopping it up with this crew.
The latest work for Restaurants, Serving Peace of Mind, is first up below. I worked on this from conception through production with the team, with the goal of creating a grittier, realer take on what it’s like to run a restaurant. We used more candid photography and more casual, punchier language to connect with our audience.
The manifesto (above) was so popular that one owner requested to have a framed copy to hang in her restaurant. No sh*t. The original name of the campaign concept was Calm in the Chaos, which became the name of the live event held in LA in April, 2023. (below)
I wrote and concepted this video for the Retail crew outlining the Free & Plus plan for small business owners.
Pictured above are shots from the Only in Albuquerque series made for Instagram about local vendors and creators. I came in on the tail end of this awesome project but helped see it through to launch.
AFFORDABLE EYEWEAR, KEKE-APPROVED
There are no friends anywhere like the friends at Friends Everywhere. Was stoked to concept themes with this crew, work through product copy, write scripts and direct the great Keke Palmer for VO needs for her partnership with the Zenni Optical team. She’s a total pro. As were these clients.
The 29 billion dollar AUSTRALIAN startup
Product launches, landing pages, app redesigns, holiday marketing, streaming radio, merchant pitches and everything in between. I’ve written for every part of this stellar company’s business and it’s been fun as hell. The people are also quite wonderful. Especially the Aussies.
emails, site copY, case studies, meta tags, pitch decks & rebel wilson scripts. I write it all.
THE HEALTH-TECH PROJECT
Who said self-testing for COVID-19 has to feel all cold and corporate? I worked with the crew at Circus Maximus and health-tech company Intrivo to help develop a friendlier way to talk about everyone’s least favorite subject, and give their new product On/Go a voice. The box is pretty rad-looking, too.
THE SHAVE BRAND THAT GREW A BEARD
It was a pleasure - as always - working with the Circus Maximus crew in developing rounds upon rounds of fun campaign and launch ideas for what became an all-knew brand in the beard care world. It got some attention. They won some stuff. It was very cool.
THE RESPONSIBLE BETTING PROJECT
Working with the folks at SPORTFIVE and my friends at Harman Friday, we developed the super simple, easily-adaptable message HAVE A GAME PLAN to promote responsible sports betting. The message was designed to be easily adaptable to any stadium, any team, any sport in the NHL, MLB and NBA. And, so that’s what they did with it. Then, in October of 2021, the NFL very blatantly stole our idea.
the YOGURT THAT ISN’T YOGURT
Working once again with the legends at Circus Maximus, I helped develop characters and a story for this delightful campaign promoting skyr, which is the Icelandic equivalent to what we Americans call yogurt.
the future of video
Devo Springsteen is a dad and a producer and a visionary. He brought me and a friend along for the ride with ADVENTR. We did a lot of talking, a lot of writing, a lot of trying to figure out just how to explain how dope this thing is in words. His current valuation in the double digit millions and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s next. I’m on the cap table with John Legend and others, but I bet I’m the only one that Googled “What is a cap table?”
the DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS (WATER) PROJECT
A labor of love years in the making in cahoots with Texas Water Foundation, Harman Friday and Roy Spence, this is an ongoing project we hope to spread across the state and get Texans to give a dam about their water. (Dam. See that? Water joke.) After dozens of meetings - even a hearing or two - we landed on a name, a purpose and even a little bit of funding. We’re going to blanket the state and get every Texan on board.
